Intradural intramedullary tumors, which constitute only 10% of all spinal cord tumors, are a rare but significant cause of neurological morbidity and mortality that can affect patients of all ages. Most intramedullary spinal cord tumors are benign, low-grade lesions, with the majority being ependymomas, followed by astrocytomas. Intramedullary tumors, which can be found anywhere along the spinal cord, are most commonly observed in the cervical and thoracic regions. In treatment, gross total surgical resection is prioritized, with radiotherapy and chemotherapy recommended in cases of recurrence, high-grade infiltrative tumors, or when resection is contraindicated.
