Low back pain is a common symptom characterized by pain in the lower back, tension or stiffness in the muscles and tendons. It can be caused by spinal conditions such as intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), lumbar disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spinal instability, and spondylosis. The development of IDD is dependent on genetic predisposition, excessive and imbalanced biomechanical loading, impaired tissue nutrition, aging, infection, trauma, and lifestyle factors. Treatment for low back pain can be grouped into medical treatment, physical therapy and rehabilitation, interventional therapies, and surgical treatment. Regenerative therapies are an area of research focused on repairing and regenerating degenerated discs. Intradiscal injection, a minimally invasive treatment protocol performed under guidance from auxiliary guides such as computed tomography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, is carried out using various drugs. These drugs include biological reactants such as oxygen-ozone mixture, steroids, methylene blue, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cells, and hydrogel. These treatments have the potential to repair and regenerate degenerated discs.
