Thoracolumbar junction fractures involve the T10-L2 region and is the most common area of the spine affected by trauma. Most are injuries resulting from high-energy and high-velocity trauma. It is one of the important causes of mortality and morbidity after blunt trauma. Its incidence is 6.9%. Permanent neurological deficits are seen in 27% of these fractures. The most common cause of injuries to the thoracolumbar spine is motor vehicle accidents. It can be seen with associated additional injuries. A good understanding of its epidemiology and associated causes guides the evaluation and management of these fractures.
