Thoracic lumbar spine fractures are the most common cause of serious morbidity and mortality among all spinal fractures due to the fact that the region is anatomically and biomechanically a transition zone. The importance of fracture classifications in the creation of a treatment algorithm for thoracolumbar fractures is great. An ideal classification should be simple, able to fully identify all types of fractures, easily applicable, diagnostically repeatable, determine the prognosis and guide treatment. Classification systems in the past two or three colon stability, or type of injury the mechanism of injury is based on current classifications of injury morphology, the integrity of the structure longitudanal posterior, the patient`s neurological status and features such as the morphology of the spinal column are taken into account. Although many classifications have been defined throughout history, new classifications using a common language are still needed today.
