Spinal parasitic infections still remain an important health problem in endemic areas. It is also common in nonendemic regions, with improvements in travel opportunities, tourism and increased social migration. Hydatid Cyst, Cysticercosis, Schistosomiasis and Toxoplasmosis are the most common spinal parasitic infections. Malaria, Paragonimiasis, Gnathostomiasis, Trichinosis and Toxocariasis are rare spinal parasitic infections. Worldwide, Neurocysticercosis is the most common parasitic disease of the central nervous system. In our country, the most common cause of spinal parasitic infection is Hydatid Cyst disease caused by Echinococci. Since the symptoms of spinal parasitic infections are nonspecific, diagnosis is often delayed. These delays in diagnosis also negatively affect the success of treatment. Patients infected with Spinal Hydatid Cyst have very high recurrence rates despite surgical and medical treatment.
