The spine, including the human spine, is one of the most important components of the system that keeps many living beings upright in nature and directly affects their vital movements. In modern times, lower back pain is one of the most significant issues that diminishes quality of life due to disc degeneration. While disc herniation and degeneration are often blamed as the most common causes of pain, the primary cause of lower back pain is spinal instability. However, the abnormal motion used in the definition of instability does not always cause back pain. For example, although radiological abnormal motion can be observed in degenerated discs associated with spondylolisthesis, the pain is not constant. Therefore, the definition of instability has been updated to include abnormal motion at the joint surface and altered load transmission. Dynamic stabilization aims to maintain motion in the spinal segment and control abnormal movement, while providing increased physiological load transmission between the anterior and posterior components of the spine to alleviate pain. Dynamic systems can allow for anatomical modification of the motion segment when subjected to postural changes. Our task is to create future dynamic systems that align with the ideal spinal physiology using these concepts. This will be possible through the ability to utilize the sufficient technologies available in our country, knowledge, and self-confidence.
