Vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphism refers to variations or differences in the DNA sequence of the gene encoding VDR. Polymorphisms in the VDR gene may affect a person`s response to vitamin D and susceptibility to various health conditions, including those related to bone health, immune function, and possibly intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). This review aimed to examine the relationship between VDR gene polymorphism and IVDD.
