Chiari Malformation Type 3 is a rare developmental disorder seen in the posterior craniocervical region with an encephalocele sac containing components of the hindbrain. Because of its rarity and poor prognosis, there are no studies with longterm follow-up and large patient populations. In the light of small number of case reports and studies, surgical treatment opportunities are available. Chiari Malformation Type 4, defines cerebellar aplasia or hypoplasia briefly and is not included in the current Chiari malformation types.
